  • Upon request from your department, you must apply for SINK tax (special income tax for residents living abroad).

  • The Swedish Tax Agency does not support a third option.
  • A coordination number is a unique identifier that the Swedish Tax Agency can assign to an individual who has never been listed in the Population Register. No two coordination number are identical, and you keep the same coordination number for life. (The same applies to personal identity numbers). If you receive a notice from the Swedish Tax Agency instructing you to personally visit a Swedish state service center for identity verification, you can disregard this. The Swedish Tax Agency will instead assess the probability of your identity based on the copy of your passport that you have submitted.

    • If you have received a payment from Uppsala University since September 2023, you will not need to provide additional information, since your account details are saved with us.
        • Proof of Account must be attached. It should contain your name, bank and account number. The reason for this is to ensure that the account belongs to you as a person and it is done for security reasons. 

          You will need to obtain this certificate directly from your bank. While some banks offer the convenience of downloading it online, others may necessitate a formal request via email.
